Planning Seminars and 'Special Event' Calendar
posted on Thursday, November 25, 2004

At this time, I will begin planning Seminar events whose themes vary (i.e.: Style You Inherit: Geographical and Familial Influences, How Personal Style Can Add or Subtract Ten Years, or Personal Style--Modern and Appropriate in a Competitive Work Market) and always tackle a component/challenge of personal style. I've given these at museums, for small private groups, at parties, country clubs, to exercise/health groups, professional groups, etc. Each one is different, and tailored to my audience. They've been enjoyed by groups of teens, to men and woman wanting to reassess at important intervals of their lives, especially with the challenges of aging. They always stimulate thought, conversation, and even controversy.

I welcome and encourage anyone who wishes to discuss a Seminar (and wishes to have it designed for a small or large group and its particular focus/issue on style), to contact me with your request with as much lead time as possible.

Latest On Model Search
posted on Thursday, November 11, 2004

To date, many "real people" models have signed up for my book project (check January, 04 archives for information about the model search). Still in need of volunteers of varied ethnic backgrounds. I need males and females, over 50 years old, Hispanic, Asian, and African American. If you fit this description or know of someone who does living in the Phoenix, AZ area (or close surrounding area), please contact me. I promise they'll enjoy participating.

Does It Take A Lot Of Thought To Look That Bad?
posted on Tuesday, November 02, 2004

Out West it's admittedly worse than out East or in some of the South. However, it's pretty awful generally speaking. I'm referring to the horrific looks that are concocted by the supposed aesthetically interested and cultured people that turn out for theater, opera, and museum shows. It's particularly bad with the "over 50" crowd.

Is taste in style somehow exclusive? What does it take?

To me it always bore some correlation to the ability to truly see. Should I conclude that all these folks with garrish, ill-fitting, mish-mashes of absurd clothing really lack the ability to see? For sure...they cannot see themselves accurately. In my book...eccentricity and 'artful' dressing 'well done', will be one of the many issues explored.
